sewing catch up

ta dah!!

I have just finished a sun hat for little B - I now have to wait for her to come home from nursery to try it out and see if it fits!! I'm hoping the weather will stay sunhat friendly as we are off on hols tomorrow- while I was packing (or dumping every piece of clothing I own on the spare bed) I found a couple of other things I have made that haven't made it onto my blog record. The skirt is an Amy Butler pattern - and my first attempt at an invisible zipper. The second is another Heidi and Finn pattern (love that fabric- lined with vintage 70s reclaimed fabric, super soft). The second photo seems to be upside down....but you get the gist!

  1. Love the dress! Is it reversible? looks like it could be, just feeling slightly gutted that my girls are getting too big for those sewing patterns!

  2. Love the hat! Did you follow a pattern for that? I'm fairly new to sewing, maybe 1 1/2 months, so havent tried out any "real" items yet... Lol! I joined the berry swap too, that's how I found you. :)

  3. Thanks for your comments! Yep- the dress is reversible (although I think I prefer the green fabric so not sure how much it will actually get reversed!. Having just entered the terrible world of toilet training tunic dresses are definately the way forward...
The hat was from a book called making children's clothes by Emma Hardy. It was surprisingly easy to do! There are some quite nice things in her book- mostly girly patterns but some for boys too. So far I have made a skirt and a dress (although I'm not convinced about the shape of the dress so it is work in progress....)
